Southern Highlands Preparatory School retained Simpson Coulter | STUDIO to design a new middle school classroom building on the existing campus. The classroom building contains teaching, office, and flex spaces for students in grades 6-8 as well as accompanying staff. The design of the building and individual spaces focused on necessary flexibility to accommodate the changing landscape of education and multi-disciplinary curricula. One of the key components of the design was choosing finishes that would give students a modern learning environment but would withstand the wear and tear of daily educational activities. Daylighting was provided in the learning spaces to give students a connection to the exterior surroundings and ensure a bright and engaging learning environment.
