The site of the Veterans Tribute Career & Technical Academy (VTCTA) is a dense urban site north of an existing high school, Advanced Technologies Academy (ATech). Special considerations were taken into account to maximize the 34.6 acres of site allotment, 15.8 of which would be occupied by the new school. In collaboration with Clark County School District and ATech, Simpson Coulter | STUDIO developed various design options that were finalized and presented to the overseeing entities. Ultimately, the design option that was chosen proved most convincing to the deciding committee because it maintained a strong presence on Vegas Drive, provided ample site and facility security, and proposed the most seamless integration between the two schools.
