Clark County required a new building to house their Development Services department in response to the exceptional growth of the Las Vegas Valley and outlying areas of Clark County. The design team at Simpson Coulter | STUDIO collaborated with many county agencies who would use and maintain the facility. The main challenge of the Clark County Development Services project was to keep the facility fully operational throughout construction, which was met by working closely with the user groups and developing detailed construction phasing plans and interim seating charts for the staff as construction progressed. This careful coordination in the design phase led to a facility that experienced fully operational service for their customers throughout the multiple construction phases. The Clark County Development Services project represents a showpiece of building code compliance, demonstrating proper implementation of all applicable codes and restrictions, with a design that responds to the desert environment with a simple yet graceful architectural vocabulary.
