Simpson Coulter | STUDIO was retained to revive an existing retail center located in the northwest area of Las Vegas known as Summerlin. The retail complex is in a prime location, but in recent years prior to the renovation, the facility had become a backdrop building lacking the ability to bring in new tenants and customers. The design focused on creating a sense of place that would act as a desert destination for the Valley residents. The sidewalks were increased to create a walkable promenade connecting various plazas throughout the site. Each plaza design consists of user amenities such as outdoor seating, shade canopies, children’s play features, fireplaces, and technology nodes. In addition to this walkable outdoor mall, SCS reconfigured the parking lot to create quadrants that could be blocked off for events such as car shows, farmer markets, craft fairs, concerts, and the like.
