Simpson Coulter | STUDIO was Architect of Record on the original Lied Library. Since its completion, Lied Library has been an iconic hub for student interaction and collaboration, providing a range of study environments and spaces for social engagement. Looking to the future, the library leadership team launched a new knowledge production program that includes a makerspace, 3D printing, multimedia, virtual reality, data visualization, printing services, and pop-up instruction.

Students say that Lied isn’t your typical library. Whether because food is allowed or because the original program accommodated for a variety of supportive and unique spaces conducive to student comfort and expression, Lied Library is a significant and well-loved UNLV icon. The infusion of modern spaces that support emerging technologies through the Knowledge Production project will ensure that Lied Library evolves along with the student body it serves.
